Discussion on Mark Letteney’s The Christianization of Knowledge in Late Antiquity: Intellectual and Material Transformations (2023).

Greetings to everyone in the Late Antiquity Reading Group (LARG)!

On Thursday, March 7th, at 4:00 pm EST, we are delighted to be able to welcome Dr. Mark Letteney (University of Washington) as our guest speaker to discuss his new monograph, The Christianization of Knowledge in Late Antiquity: Intellectual and Material Transformations (2023).

This event will be run as a 65-minute interactive discussion in a hybrid format, both in-person in HQ 342 and on zoom. We ask that attendees read the Introduction, Chapters 3 (“A Methodological Revolution in Fourth-Century Theology”), 4 (“A New Order of Books in the Theodosian Age”), 6 (“New Texts”), and the Conclusion in advance of the event. For access to the readings or any questions, please email rafail.zoulis@yale.edu.
