“New Approaches for Studying the Past”, an afternoon workshop that focuses on projects in experimental archaeology. The workshop, which has been generously sponsored by Archaia, the Yale Program for the Study of Ancient and Premodern Cultures and Societies, will address three main areas of research currently being undertaken at Yale: the manufacture and use of Greek pottery, the metallurgical study of Roman coins and Chinese mirrors, and the analysis of surviving pigments on ancient objects.
Speakers include Milette Gaifman (History of Art, Classics), Andres Garces (Conservation), Chelsea Graham (IPCH), Benjamin Hellings (YUAG), Irma Passeri (Conservation), Carol Snow (Conservation), and Sanchita Balachandran (Johns Hopkins Archaeological Museum).
